VICTORIAN ENERGY UPGRADES PROGRAM
Victorian Energy Upgrades is a state energy efficiency program. Households and business can receive rebates or discounts on energy saving products. This helps to lower bill power bill and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Every upgrade allows the Accredited Providers of program to generate Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs). Each certificate represents one tonne of greenhouse gas prevented from entering our atmosphere. Accredited Providers sell these certificates to energy retailers, who use them to meet the emission targets set by the government each year.
The benefits for households and business vary, depending on the market activity and price of the certificates. The Essential Service Commission oversees the program, ensuring that providers are accredited and the products installed meet approved standards.
